Remember Vertières.
Know the history.
HAITI: THE FIRST BLACK NATION — WHAT HAPPENED?
By PAPOUCH
From the Riches of Saint-Domingue to Revolution, Debt, Intervention, and Economic Crisis.
Before someone else tells Haiti’s story for us, let’s know it ourselves.
November 18 marks the anniversary of the Battle of Vertières. We chose this date to remember the victory and ask what came next.
This illustrated book follows Haiti’s history through colonial rule, revolution, independence, debt, foreign occupations, and the decisions of Haitian leaders.
